In short: Sonivre has no user account and sends neither your books nor your reading to our servers. Your files stay on your device. If you turn it on, sync goes through your own iCloud account (iPhone, iPad) or Google Drive (Android). To fix crashes, the app sends technical reports to Sentry. No ads, no ad tracking.
Sonivre is published by Mael Rochard Brunet, an independent developer. Contact: contact@maelrochard.com.
The files you import (EPUB, PDF, images) are stored in the app's private storage on your device. We never receive them. The only exception, at your initiative, is the "Books" option of Google Drive sync (section 3).
History, bookmarks, notes, statistics and preferences are stored locally on your device.
iCloud (iPhone, iPad). Your reading position (chapter and paragraph number) can be synced through iCloud with your Apple ID. No book content is transmitted.
Google Drive (Android, Sonivre Pro), optional and off by default. If you connect your Google account, Sonivre creates a "Sonivre" folder in your Google Drive. The access requested is limited to files created by Sonivre (drive.file permission): the app cannot see the rest of your Drive. The folder contains:
This data is stored in your Google account and subject to Google's terms. We have no access to it. To stop: "Disconnect" in the sync screen. To erase: delete the "Sonivre" folder from your Drive. To revoke access: myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Sonivre's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
System voices (iOS, or the text-to-speech engine installed on Android) read your documents on the device. On Android, some voices offered by Google's engine are marked as online voices: depending on that engine's settings, the text being read may then be processed by Google. Sonivre prefers offline voices when there is no network.
The Kokoro AI voice (Sonivre Pro) runs entirely on your device. On iPhone and iPad, its model ships with the app. On Android, it is downloaded once (325 MB), from our server or from Hugging Face. No text is sent.
To identify and fix errors, the app sends technical reports to Sentry (servers located in the European Union): error type and stack trace, device model, system and app versions, and the start and end of app sessions (to measure the share of crash-free sessions). When a file import fails, the report may contain the name of that file.
These reports contain neither your name, nor your email address, nor the content of your books, and are not used for advertising. They are kept for a limited time.
Sonivre Pro is sold through the App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled by Apple or Google: we do not receive your payment details. The app only checks, on your device, whether a subscription is active.
The daily reading reminder and the trial-ending reminder are scheduled locally on your device. No notification server is used.
The app connects to the internet only for:
Sonivre contains no ads, no ad network and no advertising or audience measurement tracker.
Sonivre has no account and asks for no identity information. The app is not specifically aimed at children under 13.
The only data we receive is the crash reports described in section 5, which are not linked to any identity. You can write to us with any access or deletion request, or file a complaint with the CNIL (the French data protection authority) or your local authority. Synced data stays in your own iCloud or Google Drive account, where you can delete it at any time.
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its update date. Significant changes are mentioned in the app's release notes.
